Hey guys...I've been away from this board for almost 5 years now... I've owned 3 F-bodies in my teenage years... Now I'm almost 23 and I'm buying an '89 IROC 5.7 with t-tops... I got an awesome deal on it... $1500 for a 140k miles.
Anyways.
I had planned on spending $10,000 on a project car this year. I have 8,500 left, and I'm putting a $2500 paintjob on the car at a bodyshop I used to work at. The paintjob they are going to do is worth more like 4 grand. Anyways. I'm keeping the car black.. It's going to be nice.
So that leaves me with $6,000 and change left for improvments all around. Here's what I know I want to do:
The car has already been lowered 1 inch.
Polished IROC wheels. 17's?
4thgen black interior swap.
T-56?
Power adder?

My goal for the car isnt neccesarily running 12's. I just want a NICE oldschool camaro. a NICE ride....I want it to handle really well, and have enough power to snap someone's head back, while still getting decent gas mileage.
Any ideas on how that 6 grand is best spent?
Thanks guys!

LS-1 / T-56

There's your gas mileage / horse power / and reliabilty and that will eat up your 6 g's .

i would just get a "wrecked" ls1 4th gen and swap all the goodies from that in ur car, that will probably be a good 4-5 gs there(From what i have seen) which will leave u about a grand to play with....

yeah if you want 4th gen interior.. might as well go 4th gen power plant. that alone will be good for near mid 12's on slicks with catback exhaust. and good gears.

else build up the suspension. you could throw in 1-2 grand right there on good fresh shocks and suspension components. chances are its gonna need them anyway to really improve the ride.

lol

what they said.

Unless u find a smoking traditional small block or LT1 setup lol

Than use the rest on putting bigger brakes in the front like the LS1's and the rest on the suspension.

later
