New to TPI
Hello to all, I've posted in the past about my TBI's... or the firebirds that had been modified slightly before getting junked. Anyways, I had just recently purchased a 1986 Firebird Trans Am with a 305 TPI, here are pics,

Anyways, I don't have much money at the moment considering I have quite a bit going on unlike before. Just wondering what small things or cheap part I could buy to get as much power into it without any internal modifications, another question is... is it truely worth pulling the belt off of the AC, if it is then I'll rip the whole system out, of course if it's possible without needing other parts to plug up anything I may need too.

Don't take the AC out, not worth it... I'd recommend taking some rubbing compound to that paint followed by a nice wax though, bring a bit of that color back..

in my oppinion the most gain u can get from these engines is to get a much better exhaust, shortie headers, y-pipe, high flow cat and exhaust, i think you will see the most gains from that, more than anything else at this level really if it is all stock.
those are probably the biggest bottlenecks at the moment on the motor, i dont think changing anything with the tpi will give u any significant gains at the moment with stock heads, maybe getting rid of the air box, it looks rather restrictive. hope that helps some!

Just out of curiosity, what are your plans for the car? Daily driver? Cruiser? All-out drag car?
For a daily driver, I don't think you need to worry about squeezing an extra couple HP from the engine by eliminating the AC and all that kind of stuff. I agree with the above, that your money will be best spent by installing a more free-flowing exhaust system. Also, swapping in a higher rear gear ratio will give you a heck of a result off the line. But don't go too high if you are going to drive on the highway a lot.
