well i left a distributo on the bench the other day and informed my father that i needed to replace the pole peice...he got bored later that day and decided to take it apart, he never marked the orientation of the distributor driven gear on the shaft so i dont know which way it needs to go back on. there is a dimple in one side of the driven gear. does anyone know how to reinstall a driven gear that wasnt marked upon removal? i mean they werent marked when gm installed them so there has to be a way to do it. i need this information asap i searched to no avail.

 

The dimple lines up with the slot at the top of the shaft. The gear end of the gear is against the housing.
