another tps question...sigh

My car doesnt run great since installing the new 350. It runs and drives and gets me to where I am going, but it doesnt have the "spirit" of my former 200k mile 305.

I just bought aldl cables and will be downloading an aldl program soon to run diags. Anyway in the meantime I though I'd check my tps voltage

I read at iroc zone that SD cars need a tps idle voltage of .71. I checked mine and it was at .61. So i adjusted it accordingly. But I've read in so many other posts here that it should be at .54v at idle. So I took it back down.

I notice though (whether by pulling the throttle linkage or by using the pedal) my tps doesnt get above 1-2 volts. I'm in park when adjusting and gunnign it up to 4 or 5k rpm.

I figured on waiting to get the aldl cables and run diags, but is this an obviously bad TPS?

You dont need to have the engine running to adjust the TPS. Turn the key to the ON position and connect a volt meter to terminals A and B on the TPS. You might have to slice in or something. The TPS voltage should go from a closed position around 0.54V (max 0.62V) smoothly up to above 4.0V as you slowly open the throotle by hand. This is how you check the functionality of the TPS.

with the key in the on position it reads .54v. As i slowly turn the throttle linkage it goes to 3.9v

ok well i guess thats 1 problem solved. Now i can return that $43 tps to pepboys.

I havent driven it yet with the voltage at .54v. I've been driving at .71 and have my fuel pressure at 49psi.

I'll drive it tonight and see if it made any diff
