Accel/Lingenfelter Manifold made by Edelbrock

Aparently Edelbrock is now casting Accel's superram base. You can imagine I was pretty suprised to see Edelbrock stamed on the top of my manifold. Otherwise it still looks like Accel's original part. Does anyone know if there are any differences?

Thanks
John

The Edelbrock part number is embossed on the underside of the intake manifold if made by Edelbrock. I think the number is something like 3890 without looking it up. See if the Edelbrock/Accel base has a part number on it. If manifold is different it might have a different part number.

Yes edelbrock does cast some (TPIS big mouth) intakes for other companies. Accel isn't one of them. My tpis has the edelbrock # cast in the bottom, but the top should have what ever companies name on it. It sounds to me like you got sold an edelbrock hi flo intake. How much did you pay for it?

The part came in an Accel box. Both Lingenfelter and Accel told me they are now cast by edelbrock. Edelbrock is printed on the intake. The intake still looks like the Accel design but I am trying to find out if there are any differences. I am telling you 100% it is not the original edelbrock design.

I got mine from Jegs. I would imagine it doesn't matter who you get it from. Unless someone has some old castings laying around.

You should post pictures for us since a few of us have the Edelbrock base. The lot # on my base is less than a year old so I know its a more recent design.

Doesnt look anything like the Accel base IMO.

Note the machined area at the distributor, not on the Accel. Check the spot beside the runners, the Accel has more material where the Edelbrock is chopped off. On the Accel, the mounts for brackets are all machined, the Edelbrock is not.

That kind of sucks. IMO the design of the Accel where it transitioned from the base to the head was a better design.

I could have sworn with the edelbrock you could see the outline of all 8 tubes like the stock manifold. I thought only the Accel had them blended to look like only four seperate tubes. I am wrong. That is incredibly disappointing. Does anyone know if there is a port size difference between the Accel and Edelbrock?

So much for getting my motor together quickly.

The Accel,Edelbrock,TPIS bases all have the exact same dimensions. I wouldnt worry about it. Its in the FAQ. I hope you didnt pay more than what the Edelbrock base sells for.
