Code 54 - Fuel Pump Question??

I am running a speed density TPI, and I have a problem with the fuel pump. The weird thing is the Fuel Pump (Walbro 255) is brand new. Sometimes when you turn the key the fuel pump will not prime and it takes a few seconds a cranking to get it started. Once running, it will through a code 54, but if I turn off the car and then start it again it works fine and no code. Anyone else have this problem before?

Have you checked your f/p relay yet? The fuel pump willl not energize with a faulty relay but will get energized when there is sufficient oil pressure developed.
