3-wire 02 sensor connection?
3-wire 02 sensor connection?
Hi, newbie here to this forum, great stuff! maybe this has been discussed already..I recently bought a '88 Iroc w/ 23k miles from the original owner in mint condition. But of course I gotta mess with it a bit. I'm going to put the 2055 ceramic Hooker headers on it and change the 02 sensor. Where is a good spot to tie-in to switched power for the heat mode? Seeing how it's a constant draw I don't want to pull too much juice off the wrong circuit....I'm also going w/ GM Performance 1.6 roller rockers, UMI SFconnectors, Hotchkiss strut tower brace and other stuff. I thought maybe I'd photo document the changes if anyone was interested? Thanks in advance, Joe

what? your topic is about o2 sensor...but thers no such thing as a 3-wire connector, its a single connection. and i dont understand why you wanna draw power off another circuit for this "heat mode"
perhaps some better explinations are in order

Gramps, the way I understand it is that my car has a single wire 02 sensor that needs to see roughly 600degrees for it to work properley and that by going to headers the exhaust gases will be cooler for quite a bit longer than normal. The heated 02 sensor (3 wire) is to let the ECM go to closed loop in a normal amount of warm up time and not run too rich for too long. This info I read in the tpis website and a couple of other sources. AC Delco, Accel and others all offer this set-up. Being a constant draw radiant type heat element and not thermostatic I wanted to avoid tying into anything under the hood that might be affected by a constant draw. I was considering hooking up to the feed side of the headlight or horn relay where a milivolt draw won't be too much as opposed to something like the fuel pump relay which is closer but might get bothered. Did I misunderstand something I've read? Thanks for the response, Joe
