sensor id - with pics
I had a slight problem installing headers on my '87 350 TPI. when i dropped the passenger side in i knocked of a lead to a sensor in the head. pic below. can alyone tell what the sensor is ? there is a pic of the connection i knocked off
sensor

lead to sensor - i think its the connection i broke so anyone know where to get that type of connection or does it come with the sensor ?

I also had problems with my fan cutting in and out . so i played about with a lead going to what i presume is the fam switch and the fan was coming on and of so i presume its a dodgy sensor / connection . here is a pic
this is located on the passenger side of the block near

finally does anyone know where to locate these sensors . i live in the U.K and parts stores over here do not keep them in stock
thanks

Ditto. One of your fans will still work (the one run by the ecm) but the second fan is controlled by that switch in the head you broke. Other ones the knock sensor and doesnt have anything to do with the fans.

I must have been getting mixed up with the sensor wires when i was under the car.
there was a wire very near where the knock sensor is that was making the fan go on and off when i was moving it
I'll have to try and get back under the car

The fan wire that plugs into the broken switch is just a hot wire. When the switch hits X temp then it grounds out and turns the fan on. If you were moving the wire around it may have been hitting metal, grounding out and turning the fan on.

Now that you've said that ,i reckon when i was moving the knock sensor wire around i may have also been moving the broken fan switch wire around as they are close to each other and the fan wire may have been earthing out.
thanks for the input . i'll double check tomorrow
