Max RPM for me

What limits RPM? Valve springs? Bottom end?

What should my max rpm be? Most mods are in the sig. If more info is needed....

It's for the 92 GTA.

Re: Max RPM for me

TPiS Bigmouth, AS&M runners, fully ported and polished intake
I'll take a SWAG and say 5600rpm will be your highest optimum shift point. Increase the compression a few points and increase the duration and match the hardware in the heads...power will still suck with the quote above but it'll be better for shifting higher.

Parts must match. Includes rod bolts, crank type, valvetrain, camshaft, heads, induction, gearing, weight, etc. etc.

My $0.02

Re: Max RPM for me

Stock bottom end
The plenum is ported to match the runners
The manifold is ported to match the runners
The heads and manifold are ported to match the fel-pro 1205 gasket
The cam - 224/230 .566/.570 112lsa
195 cc AFR Eliminators with their stock springs
Hardened pushrods
3.23 gearing
and a stab at 3500lbs curb weight
9.5" converter
I'm hoping for 5800 RPM.

Re: Max RPM for me

Have you taken your car on the dyno?

You will see your powerband, your peak and where your power (HP & TQ) drops.

This will answer your question.

If i were to guess your peak HP, I would say around 5.7k rpms. Have you tuned (new prom) your engine with all your mods? I think the magical land of 6k rpms peak is very possible with a good tune.

Pat

P.S. By the way nice setup

Re: Max RPM for me

Thanks!

Engine is still not in the car. Sub-frames are getting welded in.
All I have is a desktop dyno of the engine. I do plan on taking it to a wheel dyno once I can get it together. I'm hoping to have it installed this coming weekend and running the following.

I'm hoping it's not going to be too much of a pita to tune this thing. I guess i'm going to have to put the stock programming back in and go from there.

Re: Max RPM for me

sounds like a good plan, start with the stock programming and take it from there.

Good luck with your project and keep your progress posted. I am thinking about a similiar project only with a 305 and plan on making it a high revving yet drivable (reliable like daily driver).
