Converting from Carb to TPI???

I know this thread has been asked a lot before but I just have to make a new thread...

I have a 87 305 with a Computer controlled carb on it...I Was thinking of converting in to TPI if it is not tooo expensive...
I have checked some of the other threads were you explain how to change from a regular carb in to TPI..

So i have 2 main questions:

1. Is it easier or harder to change from a computer controlled carb into TPI than a regular carb???

2. If you are lucky on ebay or something how much in pricing for the whole kit..wireing harness, sensors, computer etc....????

Re: Converting from Carb to TPI???

its a little bit easier converting from a computer controlled carb to TPI, but only because you already have a place for the O2 sensor, & there is a hole in the firewall for the harness to pass through. if your lucky, the hole won't need to be opened up for the TPI harness.

as far as price goes, it depends on what you find. about 4 years ago i saw a complete TPI setup for $400.00 which included fuel lines & sending unit with the fuel pump & all of the sensors. the wiring harness needed some work. it was off a 85 camaro so it probably needed a MAF too.
the 85 system had more then its share of problems with the MAF going out.
i would recommend going with a speed density system over a MAF system.
good hunting.

Re: Converting from Carb to TPI???

You can find good prices here and there. I picked up the manifold, plenumn, tubes, all sensors minus maf, for 150. You will have to find setup from an 87-92 car, due to the base being for the old style heads in the 85-86 cars. keep looking around and you will find a good deal.

cheers!!

Re: Converting from Carb to TPI???

By the way...this may be a difficult question but hopefully here is someone that could have an answer...

Like i wrote on this thread I have a 305cid engine with a computer controlled carb...that means that I have this O2 sensor yes...

But what do I excacly need for my car to get the whole TPI setup??
Anyone that has this list for me??

I know the main things:
