cylinder head redesign

What year did GM change the head angle where the stock old intakes will not fit without modification? Was it with the 87 tune port?

Yup, 1987 was the year. It included changing from perimeter to center valve cover bolt location as well as the two center intake manifold bolt angles to 72deg.

Beware...'Vette heads are a hybrid design. Center-bolt valve covers, 90deg intake bolt holes.
