i have an 1988 iroc!..converted to a 5.7..all the components were changed that needed to be except the prom...i bought a new one from tpi parts and the car wont even start..but with the stock 305 ecm and prom it will!! wierd!! well im running way to rich to pass smog in Ca! any thoughts, comments..let me know...thx

 

I would imagine it's a VATS system you need to program out of your chip I'm assuming your current coulmn does have the wiriing for it so you wont be able to bypass it any other way.

 

where would the resister go?? also when i plug in the new chip... and turn the key to the on position..the fans are constantly running!!

 

sorry about my post... Your column does not have the wiring for the VATS ( security system) you can tell if you have it (vats) on your car if you have the black plastic piece with the metal in it. I'd try and find somebody in your area who burns chips they can modify yours quite easy... There are folk on ebay who charge for it... but rememeber it's only my opinion on your no start.
