Thinking of swapping 1989 350TPI into 1990 305TPI Convertible IROC-Z. Easy Swap????

I have a donor 1989 Formula 350 that I can use to install it's 350TPI into my 1990 IROC-Z Convertible.

Is this is just a matter of removing the engine harness and engine from the donor car and installing it in my IROC after removing the original harness?

I'm pretty motivated at doing this at the moment. Please chime in to let me know whether it's worth the hassle or whether it's best to find a 1990-1992 donor for my convertible.

Thanks!

why not just use the harness in the car. put the 350 in, get a chip for a 350 car or a custom tune. would be a lot easier then taking the SD harnes out and putting in the MAF harness.

you will not need to change the wiring harness, however there is a few parts you will need to swap out. Read the following web page, it will tell you everything you need to know;

This is a pretty easy swap. your best bet is to leave the intake setup with all the sensors for the 305 and install the 350 with that as the intake. Then all you would need is the injectors from the 350 car. It is that simple.

I know its your car and to each there own, but that is a pretty rare thirdgen and if it was mine I would keep it as original as possible.

personally i agree with miller.... and i understand why you want a 350 instead of a 305 also! good luck if you tend to do the swap, dont use the older harness use yours.. nothing else to point out about the swap, you have more than enough info in their comments =D

This is very true. This could be one of the rarest due to the strike that year. Didn't even catch that part at first.
