I have seen the post where people have taken the smog pump out, but how did they do it?? Does the whole bracket have to come off to get to the smog pump?

 

Just take the two bolts holding iton off and remove the diverter valve and hoses. Also cap the manifolds or headers. Thats it. You will have to get a differant belt and re-route the system. There is a good article on this in the Technical article sections.
