Distributor compatability.

Thru an act of sheer idiocy I have ruined the distributor on my 89 IROC (But thats another story)
I Just picked up a distributor out of an RS that has new electronics inside it. It looks exactly the same, are the internals different between the TPI and TBI so I have to swap my old stuff over or can I just drop it right in?

rcr,
i know the electronics are the same, but
are the distributor gears compatible?
the non-roller (iron cams) use a hardened
gear and the roller (steel cam) use a sintered
bronze gear. and if mixed youd get premature
gear failure? i remember in my super shop
days that the steel roller cams always said
to replace the oe gear with a bronze gear.
or is all that old stuff??
