Ok so I'm swapping in a TPI and I have an 89 with vats. I have a computer out of an 88 Firebird so I should be set with the VATS I think. However I am missing the Chip, prom, memcal or whatever its I just have the computer. My question is, instead of tracking down a stock piece, couldn't I just get an aftermarket Hypertech chip or is there another piece in there that I'd still be missing? I just have the slot with blue and white tab on either side.

You'll need the memcal. Hit a boneyard. Forget Hypercrap. They're thieves for how much they charge and how much you get.
You're "swapping in" from what? What ECM is in there now?
88 firebird ECM? What engine was that ECM running?
