Best New ET!!!

Hey guys
I came back a little while ago from River City Raceway in Seguin, TX (about 30 miles from San Antonio, TX) and I'm really happy because I broke my old et record. I went from a 13.51 at Moroso Motorsports Park, FL to a 13.40 here at Seguin. The only addition from then and now was the 2100-2200 RPM TQ. I think I can still squeeze more out of it, but I could only do 2 runs because there wasn't that many people at the track (about 10 actually racing), so the staff shut down early.
I want to bump the timing a bit more because the engines burps when you step on the gas half throttle from a standing still (kinda backfires through the intake, not loud though) and I haven't really brought the new converter to it's 2100-2200 RPM stall. I'm hoping I can achieve a 13.30 here at Seguin. The 13.40 might be a hair lower at Moroso, but I'm still happy with the results.

Results of latest run (at Seguin, TX)

1.94 60FT -- (best ever: 1.90)
13.40 1/4 ET
102.55 MPH -- (best ever: 104.23 MPH)

Altitude: 510FT
Temp: 43* F
Rel. Hum.: 67%

Hey Great Time!!

What cam do you have?
Is the torque converter in the power band of the cam? I would think you could have gone with a 2500rpm TC.

Not to bust your bubble ... but the temp was 43*? Do you think that might be a factor? What was the temp when you raced in FL?

In any case if you gat the timing down you should get the time you want, I think.

Anyway I hope to see you knocking on 12's door real soon!

No, I really don't think it was the temp. that made the improvement. I know this because my car is not the consistent type of car. Before it ran a 13.51 and that was it in more than 2 years. The closest I ever got to it again was 13.63. Yesterday on the other hand, I ran a 13.47 with a 1.98 60FT and then a 13.40 with a 1.94 60FT.
The cam I have has a power range of 2200 to 5800 RPMs, so the tq is almost right on the money. What really impressed me was how well the car hooked; I thouhgt I would be all over the place, but it never happened.
One thing though, I'm crossing the lights at or less than 5000 RPMs, that means the gears (4.10s) must be next and then I'm pretty confident that I would be real close to running 12s. As is, this car can run 13.30 here in San Antonio, I'm pretty confident (I never brought the TQ to 2100 RPMs because I was affraid to do a power brake at the starting line) and like I said before, the timing still screewed up (damned AutoZone distributor). One last thing, even though the temp. was low, the humidity was always high (which we all know is a factor) and altitude is much higher than FL and also had to put 103 octane racing gas (almost ran out of gas and they had no 93)

87Z-Ya, I want to go again pretty soon. I'll let you know when so you can race my friend's MR2 Turbo. I'm really tired of spankin' his a$$. You do it for me next time!

One last thing!
According to the calculator that adjusts for altitude, I should have run a 13.301 at Moroso, FL which is only 14 Feet above sea level. But I won't be really satisfied until I run 13.30 here.
