'91 T/A TPI going into a '84 T/A need Tranny help!
I'm putting in a '91 TPI (speed density) into a '84 Trans am, I'm replacing everything including fuel lines, tank, pump, motor, and TPI unit/wiring. I have the mechanical speedo, and the 700r4 from the '91 is a electronic sender. Will that have any effect on the ECM if I put the original 700r4 to match the mechanical speedo? What would be the better way to go? Will the ECM have a hard time adjusting to the speed, with out the speed sensor? Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks Chris

You'll have to use one of those converters to switch it to an electronic signal. Shouldn't be difficult, just be sure to get one with a 2000 pulse per minute signal.
