custom burned chips

i just built a 383 tpi with a mild cam and few other little things, i need a new chip to handle the modifications that ive done but i cant decide wether to put my car on a dyno and have them custom burn a chip for it or to send a list of all the modications ive done to motorvation and have them send me a burned chip in the mail?
dyno chip will cost about $600
motorvations chips are about $250

Re: custom burned chips

Having someone tune the engine while the car is in front of them is 1000 times better than having someone tune the engine while they're 3 states away. Unless, of course, the guy tuning the engine is a moron.

Re: custom burned chips

I swapped out the cam on my 5.7L TPI, changed the injectors. sent my specs to a chip burner. got the custom-burned chip, couldn't even back my car out of the driveway. the long & the short of it is, that experience forced me into learning how to burn my own chip.

I therefore don't believe that mail-order chips will be satisfactory for other than standard configurations.
