Problem with my 85 TPI system
I'm in the process of putting a new 350 crate into my 85 trans am, which was bought with no engine. I have the original TPI and ECM from the 305, and have set it up on the 350. However, I am encountering a few problems.
1. The vacuum/coolant ports on the TPI. I am having trouble routing the hoses, as I don't have any good images/diagrams of the system. If anyone else has this system, could you send me a few pics from under your hood?
2. This is my more major problem. I can get the engine to fire and idle, but when the throttle opens, the engine dies. I suspect it may be a fuel/air ratio, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?
Thanks, John

Do a search for a 305 to 350 swap. There are a few things that are different such as prom and knock sensor. I suspect your problem is there.

so i should swap the knock sensor, and injectors? going to 22 lb. injectors, the 350 knock sensors? Or could I modify the ECM for the 19 lb. injectors, and avoid needing a swap?

The 19lb. injectors are good to around 300hp I believe (don't quote me on that), and should work fine with a mild 350. The prom will have to be burnt accordingly of course.

canadian, since your car is the same model as mine, could you snap me a few pics from under your hood? I've been having some trouble with the diagrams for the coolant and vacuum TPI lines. I think some photos should answer my questions. Also, should I replace the prom, or can I just get a reprogram done? and if a replace, where should I go for it?
