Hard start problem

Okay, I need some help here......I have a 1989 Iroc Z TPI with a hard start problem, car has been stored for 10 years and is only started and driven a very short distance (vehicle only has 57,000 miles). For the first 8 years all fluids etc have been tended to, however in the past 4-6 months its been really hard to start. The only way I can get it going is to use a battery charger with engine start. It cranks a bit then it starts. However once you shut it off and try to start it without the charger,,, N/G. It will keep cranking til the battery dies. Has anyone had this problem and if so how can it be corrected? Fuel pressure is 42 #s at the port also it has a new cap and rotor. Thanks Guys.....

Also have three other f Bodies does anyone know how swap from electronic carb to mechanical carb for an 84 Trans am........??????

Re: Hard start problem

I put high quality 4 gauge wire from :
Batt to Alt
Batt to engine/ground
Batt to chassis/ground
Engine to chassis

........I had a hard start issue too, replaced EVERYHTING! .....Less than $40 in wiring and connectors and now it fires immediately, even after weeks of no starts!

Re: Hard start problem

After checking them and if they're ok, it may be best to yank the starter. Mine would be a PITA to start, it turned out that the brushes were eaten away, and the bolts were 1/8th inch gone because the commutator had eaten em.
