AFPR question
I wanna buy an AFPR.I read in the tech tips as far as instalation and it's not too clear.I gotta take of the plenum in order to install it, correct? I imagine the fuel pressure guage can be attached to it at any time(after assembly) in order to check/adjust pressure?
Which brand name AFPR should I go for as far as price and all.I think the TPIS one comes w/gaskets and goes for like 66 beans.
Any help is much abliged.

OK, I can help you with this one. I just got my AFPR through today.
Firstly, to fit it you must remove the plenum. You can see the fuel pressure regulator without removing it from the passenger side. It's a small black dome type thing.
Secondly, forget TPIS. I believe theire is more like $120 or so an their customer service is crap from what I've read on the boards. Have a look for yourself in the vendor reviews.
I bought my AFPR from breathless performanc parts. They get them made for them from aircraft aluminum and have a brass fitting for the fuel pipe to go onto. The quality of this product is excellent. I also got a set of instructions telling me how tto install it. I didn't get a gasket but I'm sure if you ask they will supply you with one. their web page is www.breathlessperformance.com
Their online ordering isn't set up so I would just call the order in. Mine arrived 4 working days after ordering it. I highly reccomend them.
As for the fuel pressure guage, the valve for that is on the passenger side fuel rail. I'm going to rig up a set of guages inside that car and have a fuel pressure guage on there constantly so that it can be changed fairly easily.
I was amazed as to what these AFPRs actually are. They are just a cap with a bolt on the top and a solid washer on the inside. TPIS are rolling it in selling these things for $120. There's nothing to them.
I also have fitting instructions with photos in a book somewhere. If you want them I'll send you a copy. I haven't actually fitted mine yet as I'm waiting for my other parts to arrive so that I can hopefully get an extra 50hp and feel the difference
Hope this helps, if you have any more questions you can e-mail me or write on this board.

I made my own for about $2.00 and an hour of work. If you can't braze and take it somewhere to get that done it might cost you about $10.00. If you have already done most of the mods yourself that are required in order to need an AFPR than taking on this task is a piece of cake.

Thanks for the help guys.I got the thing and I see what you mean about it being a simple piece of aluminum. I guess I could have made one myself, now that I look at it, up close.
BTW, what mods are nessasary in order to justify the AFPR? Besides the mods I have in my sig,I'm having headers installed this week. Also I'm gonna "knock down" the wall in the plenum, since I'm gonna take it off anyway. I imagine it can't hurt to step up the FP since I'll have more breathing goin' on.
Thanks.
