inline or intank fuel pump?

I'm doing the same thing, you need an in-tank pump because the TBI pump you currently have is a much lower pressure, so by just putting a high pressure in-line with a low pressure in-tank will not work. Your TBI pump will be the restriction and the in-line pump will only pump what the TBI pump puts out.
Bottom line is drop the tank and put in a TPI fuel pump, and be done with it.

I would go with an intake pump. I am currently running an Accel inline pump. It works fine, but I get sick of listening to that sucker buzz all the time. If you do use an inline pump, you will want to power the intake pump also or you will prematurely wear out the new pump.
