5.7L - 2.8L fuel pump, same?
5.7L - 2.8L fuel pump, same?
Are the fuel pumps in the 2.8L MFI and the 5.7L TPI cars the same? I know the fuel pressure is the same, but of coarse fuel consumption would be different.
I also posted some wiring questions in the engine swap forum regarding different fuel pump wiring between a 86-89 that is causing me grief if anyone has more insight.
Thanks,
Mike

I know that there were different fuel pumps used on different years of 60 degree V6 motors. One vehicle I had (Lbody) midway through the year (88) the pump changed.
Anyhow, I can't tell you but, when in doubt go to Partsamerica.com or autozone.com and crossreference numbers.
As for fuel flow of pumps used in 2.8 cars, I emptied a half-tank through the test port in the fuel rail in about 10-15 minutes I believe. But that is not at high pressure... I think they may be around 55lph ?? maybe not

The fuel pumps are similar, but as you said the V8 TPI fuel pump puts out a lot more volume. The V6 pump is the same pressure, but less volume.

I also wouldn't trust a part number cross-reference from a parts store either. Often, a single common part is listed as a replacement for multiple stock parts. Why stock 2 pumps when 1 part number can serve both roles?
