Found my Casing # what kind of TPI do i have!

I bought a 305 from a firebird and me being the idiot i didnt check the vin or see if the car was a mass air flow or speed density. The casting number is 14093627. Alot of people tell me its a 87' to 89' and i know that mainly cause the motor has roller lifters and roller cam. The back of the computer says its an 87 to 89. So i know it must be a mass air flow but I really want to know What EXACT year the motor is. Why u ask cause im tired of people asking me what motor do u have in the car? my response oh dont know and they look at me like im an idiot so please help. Hopefully u guys have your casting boooks.

On the back of the block where the bell housing bolts, up there will be a date code telling you when the engine was cast. It will have one of these letters (A-L) which will reference a month. Next it will have one of these numbers (1-31) which stands for a day during a month, and then it will have one of these numbers (0-9) which stands for the year. You have to know what decade the engine was built in.

Example D 12 7 = April 12 1987 was the casting date of my example.

Hope this helps
