add to post of 3-18, high idle problem
What will cause the iac to hold idle at 1300 when car is started and every time restarted, even when up to operating temp.
Also, went to faq and found iac and base idle adj but when i set mine and replug the iac the idle does not increase to 600 as the article states??
Can the computer's memory clear each time car is restarted even though tech 1's say everything is okay. The only way i could fool the computer was to hook up a second throttle body and ground it in motor compartment. let it hang loose and hook up iac to it. This makes the idle stay at 500-600. Does this mean my problem is in iac or idle control area?? Hope this is not stupid but it is the only way to get the idle to always stay at 500-600 every restart.

You know, i have a similar problem. Only once or twice do i see 600 rpms, otherwise in Drive it's 1300 - 900.. (i'm thinking i need to pull the IAC and clean it.)

Hey, pulled mine , cleaned it and replaced the iac. No difference. After replacing all that i have i'm starting to think that it will turn out to be something simple that i don't know about, yet. I'm hoping someone here will give me the clue i need.
same problem here when I adjust my IAC I can get idle down to 500 and have nice idle but as soon as I hook up the IAC I jump back up to 1000 and I alredy replaced then cleaned IAC??? Hope someone has the answer!! If I figure something out I'll let you know!
