Intake swap, TPI to LT1

Hey all, I just bought a 90 GTA with the 5.7 tpi. The car is mostly stock but I have started doing some upgrades. I am going to be doing some more work over the winter while the car is parked.

One thing I am thinking of doing is the LT1 intake swap. I can get ahold of a bare intake off of a 97 T/A. Is this a pretty simple intake swap or is there alot fabrication required? Will the stock tpi injectors work in the lt1 intake? Also do you have to tap the intake to run the thermostat and heater lines?

I was able to get some info when searching the forums. I know I will need to relocate the MAT sensor and the cts sensor will have to go into the thermostat housing. As for the thermostat housing can most auto parts stores get one or do they have to be custom made?

My car is equipped with speed density. Will it run with this intake or will I have to get a chip?

Finally, for now, is this swap worth the effort and time? I have heard the limiting factor for hp on the L98 is the intake.

Thanks,

Jay

LT1intake.com

If you don't have easy access to tools or don't have a good know-how, don't do it. It's time consuming, but it is worth it.

Sweet, thanks for the info. I might just order one of the prefabbed intakes he sells.
