TPI Fuel Pump Questions

In my 85 Iroc-Z 305/TPI,auto-trans I need to replace the in-tank fuel pump. It is toast.I am planning to replace the engine sometime early next year and in the meantime, will be driving the car in it's stock configuration. I plan on installing the 383/425hp GM crate motor.I will be using the TPIS Mini-Ram and injectors. So, what size and type pump should I install for this new motor? Also, knowing it will be a higher flowing pump, will it be too much for my current 305/TPI and cause problems? I really do not want to do this job twice but if I have to, so be it. Now another question: Which fuel pump sock/strainer do I need to use? Some are longer than others, some have the ring attachment point in the center of the strainer, some offset from the center. In 1985-86 GM made a change on the type of strainer used on these cars do to the fuel pump scavaging while making hard turns with a low fuel tank level. Since my pump is the original and I did experiance this problem, I assume I have the old style strainer. I await your replys as I am going to replace the fuel pump next weekend and need to buy the parts ASAP. Thanks

Re: TPI Fuel Pump Questions

Do a search on "walbro" fuel pumps, they seem to be the best. Just be careful where you buy them because some are not really walbro pumps. Also the strainer should come with the pump when you buy it. Atleast thats how the walbro and stock fuel pumps I bought did.

Re: TPI Fuel Pump Questions

Holley 255 LPH is another good choice. Just installed mine yesterday and it came with everything needed. Fits perfectly.
