What causes this?
Sometimes when my car is warm and I go to restart it it races up to 2000 RPM and sits there for a bit...it then slowly comes down after a couple seconds. What gives? IAC motor is clean..should I slap a new one in there? I just want this thing to run as smooth as possible....
POS is what it is....

I have the same problem...my friend's '89 IROC has the same problem...my mother's '88 5.7L GTA has the same problem...another friend's '89 has the same problem...JC, what gives?
I think it has something to do with temp, run time, IAC and ECM speed. I dunno, I'll hope this problem goes away with my new motor...

I have a theory...mine only does this in wormer (+65*'s temp) weather, never when colder it seems.
I'll plug in my scanner tomorrow.
Don't go replacing parts just yet, mines done it since about 2 years after I bought the car new in '89, even after the dealer replaced the ECM and IAc (for a different problem).
