Fuel injector replacement question

Hello all,

I have a 1990 SD that i just pulled a leaking injector from. I have a set of injectors left from my 1988 (all 22) but they have a different part number. The GM service manual is specific to say that replacement injectors must have the same part number to avoid emissions/fuel problems. Is that true? I have searched the forums and not seen that situation brought up before.

Thanks (as always) for the help.

Shawn
