Hello I have a 91 Z28 305 TPI. It has 117,000 miles on it. The problem is that the car will start and the idle for about 2 min then it dies. I restart it and take the RPMs up to around 3000 RPMs and then seems to run fine, I take it down on the RPMs it starts to stutter then back to idle it seem to try to run then falls flat. I test the fuel pressure it has 42 at the scrader valve and I have all new electonics like cap, rotor, coil, ignition module, and wires. I tested the fuel injectors in the car today 3 of them had 14 ohms the rest had everything lower all the way to 4 ohms so I kinda figure I need new fuel injectors???? So if I buy the accel injectors in Summit for 229.95 they are 24# injectors do I need a new chip for my car?? I am going to a larger engine and still going to use the TPI setup but will these work in my z for now??? I am buying a new AFPR also.

 

First, clean the IAC pintle and opening (117,000 miles, the whole Throttle Body probably needs cleaning). Next, if you go to a 350 you will need at least 22# injectors (standard). If you use GM injectors, the ECM will be okay (same program for 305 & 350 respectively for 19# & 22#). If you use non GM or 24# injectors, the chip will have to be reprogrammed. If you change to higher size injectors "now" you will have to either get the chip reprogrammed or lower your fuel pressure to compensate.
