What kind of TPI do I have???

I have a TPI that I want to sell. A friend of ours gave it to us so we could sell it for him. He bought it to put on his blazer and never did. He doesn't have the wiring harness or computer for it.

Before I can sell it, I want to be positive of exactly what I got.

How can I tell what year it is or if it was for a 305 or 350?

I looked in tech articles, but I didn't see anything. I know somebody asked this question a few days ago, but I didn't see the answer I needed.

Please help!

Thanks!!

Look at the stamped year under the plenum. It should be towards the center and have a number on it with a circle around it indicating the year. It doesn't matter if it is for a 350 or 305, they are all the same. The only thing that is different are the injectors (their rating 19 lb/hr for 305's, 22 lb/hr for 350's).

Stella... look at the VIN, if the 8th digit is an 8 it's a 350, if it's an F it's the 305. That is, unless it's been swapped out. Bring it to the meeting (party) on Saturday and someone will be able to make it out for you. Wait, before you do that, put T/A fenders and rear bumper so we don't throw it out of a Trans Am Club meeting

Thanks guys. Ok..It is a 85

Kevin..I don't have the car to check the vin..all I have is the TPI. See ya on Saturday BTW...The Iroc is getting painted. She will be sporting a new gloss black paint the next time you see her. Kevin ordered his tranny rebuild kit for his birdy. from Level 10 Performance, so hopefully she will be on the road again soon Talk to you later.

Oh..are we meeting at the dealership or what? If so what time?

Stella... we meet at the Roughton at 11 as usual.. then wait around until about 1 to go to the house. See you there BTW... you should let Manny know about that TPI, I'm sure he'll take it off your hands, he's been looking for one for a while now.

He has known about it for awhile now. Kevin and I found him a whole 350 motor with TPI for 800.00. The motor includes everything. It belonged to the same guy Kevin and I got my Tranny from. I think he was going to go after that deal. The car was totaled in a rear-end accident. They parted out the car. The car is at Oceana right now (the motor isn't…they striped the car before they gave it to them), the next time you go down there look for it. It is white. You can tell it from the license plate imprint in the back bumper. I can't believe you can read the woman's entire license plate in the bumper. Anyway..I don't think he needs mine anymore.
