Another newbie with questions

Alright, so I picked up a 1990 Trans Am a couple of days ago and I'm doing my research to see what I'll need. The idea is to keep the power levels around 300 to the wheels, 350 max. This isn't my race car, it's going to be my daily driver. I've already looked at exhaust and found what I want but here is my real question. What head would be best. I'm going to go with hooker headers and remove the a.i.r. system. I was wondering which head, intake, cam combo would be best for a comfortable street ride with maybe even being able to add some fuel mileage to the car. It has an LB9 under the hood. Any help would be great. I've got a year to figure this out because I'm sitting in Iraq right now.

An L31 long block with an LT4 hotcam, vortec TPI base and a nice y-pipe for your exhaust.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

Thanks for your service.

Re: Another newbie with questions

As much as I would love to just drop in a new engine I can't afford it. I am sinking around 20000 into the race car and also getting a truck. Maybe someday I'll drop something new into the T/A.

Re: Another newbie with questions

New?

Who said anything about new? I am a junkyard dog. I like used stuff that gets freshened up a bit. The cam can be had for less than a hundred on eBay or around here sometimes. The money really only has to spent new on the intake base. You could find one used maybe but I haven't.

Good luck with your searching!
