HP / 1/4 Guesstimate

I have a 91 GTA, with a fairly stock LB9 305. It's bored .030", freshly rebuilt heads, '95 LT1 camshaft swap, Flowtech shorty headers and matching 2.5" Y Pipe, Magnaflow cat and Hooker aerochamber muffler, BBK AFPR, Throttle Body Air Foil, CAI with 3" K&N Cone filter, no A/C or A.I.R. injection, 700R4 with shift kit, and (to the best of my knowledge) a 2.73 posi in the rear. Entire engine was rebuilt less than 5000kms ago.

Just looking for some rough estimates on HP and 1/4 times. I'd was thinking about 235 HP and maybe a low 15 in the quarter?

Re: HP / 1/4 Guesstimate

i think your correct, you got more power from the exhaust than the cam swap. but i would say 20hp from the exhaust and 15-20h with the cam, the cold air/air foil will help but i wouldnt expect much from those 2. its your gears that are killing u 1/4. thats where the low to mid 15s is coming from.

Re: HP / 1/4 Guesstimate

I was guessing at the low 15, but any suggestions for gears? I read in another thread that 3.73's are way to short for the stock TPI's powerband. I wanna upgrade but don't want to have to change my carrier as well.

Re: HP / 1/4 Guesstimate

you are correct, i just posted that like 20 min ago. they stock TPI is maxed at 4800 basically, so a 3.73 will get u outa the powerband really fast not to mention increase the tq at the wheels so much u loose all traction.

for an upgraded TPI... plenum ported, high flow runners, high flow base i would recomend 3.42 for good off the line etc where max power comes in at 5200-5600rpms.

but even a stock 3.23 or 3.27 is good enough for a stocker. thats what i have in mine the stock 3.27 9 bolt with disks cuz mines a formula 350tpi... and im pullin 2000 rpms at 60mph, and since im goin 383 and its gona be a daily driver im afraid of my gas milage. im puttin down 19mpg i believe that was 2.5yrs ago highway and only 10 city, ima have to do another test soon. i was prob gona go 3.42s with my HSR but im not sure now bc i want to keep as much mpg as i can and not sacrifice too much power.
