Why did Edlelbock make such fantastic heads for the vortec manifold?

I was checking out my jegs mag & i saw that Edelbrock made some very nice high flowing heads called E Tec's. Why in the hell would they make some super heads with the vortec bolt pattern ( that dosent fit much of anything) & leave the traditonal 23 degree rpm heads alone? They should put some of that technology into their traditonal heads so they can "catch up" to the big shots like AFR & Brodix! What do u guys think?

The vortech intake ports are slightly higher than regular chevy heads. That better angle allows a little better flow. If you are buying new heads for a small block Chevy, these are a good choice for an upgrade over traditional heads. And yes Edelbrock makes matching intakes from the Performer through Victor Jr to fit them. The Vortech intake port is an excellent design to build off of. Chevys aluminum Fast Burn heads use the same intake flange too.

ONE problem!! I have a tpi setup. EDElbrock sells everything except the dang plenum for tpi! Why stop at the runners & the intake manifold. I see people doing this runner & manifold swap all the time but the part I dont get is your putting this stuff under a stock plenum. Is it really worth the $800.00 price tag for the 20-50hp on this setup with the stock plenum?

Ramjet and the MiniRamIII also fit the vortec bolt pattern. The S&D TPI Vortec manifold is still delayed, and will be a few more months or years, but if it ever gets out you could use it. I had intended to use the S&D Vortec TPI intake. Then lack of a finished S&D unit and thinking that AS&M runners and that base wont give my E-TEC 200's the air they need anyway has pushed me to the Ramjet setup. The Ramjet flows very well and should be a good match with the E-TEC 200's. Also Vortec iron heads are getting used all over the place! Drag racers getting by on the cheap and bomber stock guys all love them and buy @ss loades of them.

Everyone realizes that the vortech based head design was a deviation from the LT4 family of heads, right?

The E Tec 200 is a great head! However, the only way to easily use it is with a miniram III, as in my talks with the GMPP tech, he basicly told me that too assemble a complete RamJet setup would cost about the same as the whole damn crate motor! Mind you, this is coming straight from a GMPP tech, not some hillbilly trying to sell me a MiniRam.
