Divorced coil to incap HEI, do I need new distributor?

Topic says most of it.
I have a TPI setup that I am installing and I want to use the MSD HEI coil I used when the car was carbed. Can I just get a cap from an 85-86 TPI car and replace the one on the dist. I have now?

Thanks,

Right now on the car does it have a factory coil in cap or separte coil setup? The distributors are completely different and I'm about positive the wiring is too. You need to use the kind of coil your setup came with. Now if you're asking if you can use a coil-in-cap hipo coil w/ a coil-in-cap setup then yes...they're all the same from year to year AFAIK.
