It idles rough for the first min or two.once it up at running temp it runs fine. Shut the car down and try to restart same thing but no rough idle.

Could be IAC or maybe TPS? COuld be gunnk built up in the TB housing too, and in the IAC passages.

Does it idle fine once started?

One of my IROCs started doing that last summer,... little did I know that the fuel pump was not long for this world(there is no worse feeling than deccelerating while going down a steep hill with your fooot on the loud pedal). Hasn't done this since the pump was replaced. Sounded the same then as it does now('bout 2 seconds of whirring when the key is moved to ON. Didn't set any codes before it went either(set a bunch of them when it quit tho).

I have the same problem with my Camaro. Check and clean all the sensor connections and the positive battery cable. This usually helps for a while (a few months0 and I have to do it again. I haven't been able to narrow it down, but I think it is in a fuse link on the positive battery cable.

I have the same problem.... I ran a tank of 94 octane and the car started beautifully every time... went back to 89 octane and same thing... it will turn over but without a little pedal no go.. unless you turn it over for about 20 secs.

I dont know if running the 94 was coincidence or not.... I am going to try running another tank of 94 to see what happens and if it starts again i will know it is not coincidence... The only problem is I dont want to buy 94 octane all the time..

Can anyone explain this?????

I dont know about that 94 Octane thing. For me, it was the exact opposite. I ALWAYS ran 93 octane or higher....for years....then, recently, i tried 89 octane, and the car seems to act, respond and start a whole lot better and easier. I dont know...sometimes i think my TA came from the Twilight Zone....

In reality it sounds more like he's not getting enough air..

When you start it, if you open to WOT (by hand at the TB), and "let it go" does it backfire on its way down??

You can disconnect the TPS and start it BTW..
It will idle w/out it..
