BB team G made into FI....??
BB team G made into FI....??
I got a Team G intake on top of my BB, and I was wondering how easy/hard it would be to drill out the NO2 bosses to fit some Fuel injectors and then run a 730 ECM and a TB (like a holley)...more precisely, would the angle of the injectors need to be precise? or just straight up...I'm just contempleting the idea of a "cheaper" set up than the regular 2000$ you got to fork out....
personally, i think it would be a pain. youd have to drill em out to a perfect size, make some custom fuel rails, change fuel pumps, tb, injectors, blah blah blah. id just bite the bullet and save the money to buy one of the BB F/I kit. MPFI BB 454 in my iroc is a wet dream of mine.
but doesn't accel makes an intake EFI ready for BB? or maybe it's only for SB...but I know what you mean...EFI BB would be kick a$$...my thing would be to have on chip to run economy (yea, like there's "economy" in BB...lol) and one for all out spanking power...hehe...anyway...it just would be really cool.

Subscribe to the DIY-EFI (www.diy-efi.org for details) mailing list and post a email there you will get numerous replays (i got more than i bargained for on a coil near plug topic). Just a thought to help you get more information.
Good Luck.

I have seen injectors mounted at 90° to the runner but idealy the injectors should spray at an angle towards the intake valve.
Accel, MSD, BDS and others make things like injector bosses, fuel rails, & other components. The injector bosses will make it easier to get the angle & hieght of the injecter where you want it. They can be welded or epoxied ito place.
If you are good at fabricating or atleast putting together what others have fabricated/manufactured and you enjoy doing that kind of thing then go for it.
I don't think you will save that much money though unless you can salvage things like a wiring harness, ecm, pump & injectors very cheep. The many small peices needed will quickly run the price of the conversion up if you have to buy everythng new. If you can minimize the cost by salvaging or buying used then you might save some $$. A TPI donor car could supply you with many of the conversion parts lke the distributor, sensors etc. Then you would just need fuel rails, injector bosses & the throttle body, maybe bigger injectors too if you are running a high hp application.

well I already have an 87 TPI engine harnesst...
I was just thinking about it...hook it up to a SD ECM like the 730 and burn a chip for it to handle the "little" cam and the "little" heads ;-)...thanks for the info guys...I'm checking that link above as we speak....

85 Z28, 355, edelbrock base, SLP runners (old style) 58mmTB, ported plenum, stock cam, fuel reg, TES headers, flowmaster, 3.23's posi, rear disc, shift kit, MSD 6a, 305 hypertech chip (YUUUCK!) best prior intake mods: 14.6 @ 94, 2.02 60' temp: 78deg, 80% moist, on radials.
69SS, black, 3,73's, TH400, 402 BB, roller everything (solid 246@50 622 lift)+stud-guirdle, 67 Vette heads ported and o-ringed, about 10:1 cr KB pistons, should be done this summer, goals: 500hp and lots of fun
