Need advice from car experts
Ok I have an 85 305 tpi, I'm planning on getting, cold air, headers, and a catback. Every transmission place or mechanic that I've spoken too has said that if I do these mods, my transmission will begin to slip and I'll have to get it fixed (about 1000 cdn) another guy says the rear end won't hold up (add another high amount of $). With these mods on a stock engine am I looking at trouble? It has 85,000 miles. Thanks.

The mods that you will be making to that 305 will put its power close to what a stock 350 makes. You won't have to worry about breaking anything that is in good mechanical shape. My 89 IROC is making 300+ flywheel horsepower and I haven't broke anything yet. You need to start building the trans and rear up after you are making around 350+ HP.
Just as a little insurance on the trans -get a shift kit and a trans cooler.

Yeah that's what I figured, I know they beefed up the rear slightly for the 350, but I figured with this small amount of power it wouldn't be that much cause for concern. Thanks
