Found a running 305 tpi setup from a TA on craigslist.
Was just wondering if the engine mounts would be the same
As well as if the tpi setup would easily swap from a transam 305 to a chevy 350
Thanks

On the outside the two engines are identical. Anything from a 305 will bolt up to a 350 and vice versa. One difference is in the heads, and the flywheel. 87 and newer centerbolt heads have a different intake manifold bolt pattern than 86 and older heads. Also the 86 and newer one-piece rear main seal flywheel/flexplates will not bolt onto 85 and older two-piece rear main seal crankshafts.
So if that Trans Am 305 TPI is from an 87-92 engine, then yes it will bolt onto your 89 305 engine.

Sorry. Had to work for a few hours so I only had time to give a general explanation of what Im wanting to do.
By setup, I mean I found a running TA 305 with TPI and computer for $550
I could go either way I guess? Either install the transam engine as is or transfer the tpi setup to my 305?
I plan on maybe rebuilding one of the 350s I have lying around if its the right year (I guess the engine would have to be a center-bolt valve cover 350?)
I was just wanting to see if the engine mounts for TA's and camaros were the same.
Also, I guess Id have to take out my computer and plug the transam computer in its place since Ive got a throttle body in mine?
Sorry if my questions seem a little noobish or ignorant. Fuel injection is something I am new to (I love carbs)
Ive got 2 350's that need rebuilt. One is one of the 69-80 span with the regular style valve covers and the other IIRC, is a center bolt engine. Im guessing Id need to rebuild the 2nd one?
Thanks for any info you guys can give me

Also found a camaro 305 with tpi and computer but no wiring for $200
I wonder where Id find a harness for it. I cant use the tbi harness, correct?

Regardless of whether you car is a Firebird or a Camaro, there are no differences in the engines between the two. They all use the same Chevy engines.

I've never personally done this type of swap but their are a few things I know are different , the TBI computer is configured to fire 2 injectors for all 8 cylinders and the TPI has 8 individual injectors ( 89 no cold start ) so your going to be 6 injector plugs short in your harness . The wire length on the TPS and thr IAC are to short , I'm not sure where the IAT is on a throttle body .
If it were me I'd get a harness , less headaches .
