Insurance Question

Unfortunately, my black, 350, Z28 was totalled by a drunk driver. It was in great shape, except it needed a new paint job. This was a weekend driver, like many of you, I took exceptional care of this car. The car was parked in my driveway and a drunk fool ran off the road and totalled this car, and my Expedition, while causing ten thousand dollars damage to my house. My question: Assuming it was in excellent condition, what would be a reasonable offer to accept from my insurance company? Of course the comparable prices that they sent me were included Camaro RS's (V-6's). Not one "comparable" vehicle was a 350, 5.7 like mine. VIN: 1G1FP2384ML110159; 199,932 miles on original engine/tranny. No leaks; power seats/windows; new A/C; four-wheel disc brakes. Brand new rims and tires with 600 miles (have receipts). A joker ripped off my original rims...had to replace with Centerlines. They offered me $3,265.00
What do you think is reasonable? Does anyone have any suggestions? I appreciate your help.

Re: Insurance Question

I dont think that is too unreasonable, but you could probably get more. Go take some pictures of other cars that are comparable to yours (same engine, good shape, etc.) and give them to the insurance company and tell them how much they are selling for. This worked for my dad a long time ago, but times have changed. Good luck, insurance companies suck.

Re: Insurance Question

That's in the ballpark for that year car and mileage. When my Formula was being looked over by the adjuster after it was hit they said the book value for it was $3300 if they were to total it and this was back in '02. Luckily for me the adjuster was a true car guy and started pointing out mods I had done without me saying anything and made the call to repair instead of total it.

Re: Insurance Question

Not sure about CA, but, here in michigan, if your car is legally parked, (and I don't see how being parked in a driveway cannot be considered legally parked...) and someone whacks it, THEIR insurance gets to pay..... CA might not be the same way....
