knocking/pinging or missing?
I cant tell weither my car is missing or if its knocking. At first I thought it was knocking because it started to happen after an incident of putting in 87 octane and it driving like ****. I'm back up to 100% 92 octane and its still doing the same thing except it has more power but still feels lacking.
I thought it was a timing issue and it was way retarded. I corrected that and its still missing or something. Btw, when the car had 87 in it and lost all power, it started to overheat quite badly. Could that have fouled a couple plugs?

Well, how's your oil pressure look, my friends car acted the same way before he threw a rod, so make sure all of that is okay first. If its knocking, then the motor will sound like something is rattleing on the inside. If the tach keeps hopping around and you can hear popping sounds, then its miss firing.

I think my oil pressure is good. Not sure exactly what the guage is at. But car neither seems like those two symptoms you described. Its more a chugging especially when accelerating. But the car still has decent pull. With it doing this I've still chriped 2nd. Sometimes though when I give it gas it wont accelerate well. When idling the car is a bit off too, going up a hill is worse which could be too low of octane, but even back at 92 it still chugs. Any insights would be great. I think I'm going to replace all my plugs tonight. Dont have the cash for new wires, etc though because I just bought this thing. Thanks.

Matlock, make sure you keep the plugs identified by the cylinder they came out of, they can be VERY HELPFUL in determining what is happening inside your motor.
If you ever get up to Kamloops, I can put a scan tool and see what exactly is happening with your motor. Might even show you how to burn an eprom.

Uhh weird.. the chugging went away somehow. And I havent changed my plugs yet, but good idea I'll do that Glen when I replace them. I guess it was something in the tank that has passed on through.
That would be sweet for you to have a look at my car, but ****.. Kamloops is like a 4hr drive?? lol. I'm sure by the time I got up there I'd have many more problems to speak of. Let me know if you're ever coming down for a meet and we'll hook up.

87, if you are ever coming up to Canada, look me up. I'd be happy to show it to you. Its a lot easier than most people think.
When you see all the stuff you need you'll say "That's it"? And when I show you how you to modify the BIN you say "That's all"?
The hardest part is the actual adjustments. A lot of that is learnt SOLELY by experimentation. But, its a lot of fun try things and once you played with it for awhile you can almost make a prediction and confirm the results.
