2000 to spend on mods, what should i get?? HELP!
Ok i used to have a 91 RS but i recently sold it and found i can spend 2000 on my new car. I bought a 91 Z-28, its only got 83000 miles on it and its an auto. It is supposed to have a 305 but i was told it has a 350 block now but im not sure. All it has is flowmasters and kn filters. What should i get with this money? I don't know much about TPI engines and was hoping to find some help.
My advise is first find out if it IS a 350 or not.
Then i would say since you have $2000 right now to spend, buy the big stuff, then you can do the little things to catch up.
Go with a set of trick flow heads.
Then port your stock base, and put on some SLP runners. Then later put in a cam and your heads/intake will REALLY shine.
If you decide you just want to do smaller things, get a mini or a super ram. That will be most of your money

TPI 305, 700R4 with shift kit, richmond 3.73's, auburn pro series posi, crane compucam 2030, ported plenum, gutted air boxes, all the little insignificant stuff.

If you do heads, you're REALLY going to need a PROM.. and it will have to be custom.
So i'd say visit the DIY PROM board and get ready to burn your own.

forget about heads spend your money where it will be worth something get a shift kit for the tranny,a set of 3.42 gears(recommend getting a whole rear=cheaper than having someone install gears),and a "vigillante" tourqe converter, precision industries guarentees at least 1/2 second drop in e.t's.get yourdrivetrain in order before rippinginto the engine should get you low 14's on a stock l98-Z.good luck
