injector pulse question
injector pulse question
hi, all. I have a question, do the injectors pulse 1 or 2 times before you start the engine on a tpi system? It has always been my understanding that the ecm must get a signal from the dist. before it pulses the injectors. I only ask cus i have a customer at work who is very persistant that the the injectors pulse before the engine cranks. Thanks

Re: injector pulse question
The injectors do not pulse until the engine cranks. The Fuel pump will run for two seconds, or so, when the key is initially turned to the on position, and then run constantly once the computer sees the engine turning over. (signal from dist.)

Re: injector pulse question
I believe that the injectors pulse all at once, each turn of the crank, this is called batch fire. But they do not pulse if the crank does not turn as stated above, by my buddy.
Re: injector pulse question
thanks guys, i just needed a few more peeps to prove my point to the customer. I've been workin with fuel injection for 7+ years now and i never heard of a tpi that pulsed the injectors as soon as you turn the key on, but never the less the customer thinks they are always right. Thanks again.
