What's so great about the Vortec heads?

How come there are so many posts about them and TPI compatible intake, why does everyone want them so bad? From what I see, they aren't the best flowing heads, compared the the AFRs and Trick Flows and such. Is it just cuz they are like $400?

Mainly...it is that they are just a really good bang for the buck cylinder head. The port design was "borrowed" from the LT1 and the combustion chamber is very efficient. For TPI people it wouldn't strike me as a very good bang for the buck head though 'cause you have to buy a special intake to get everything they have to offer out of them. I callled Scoggin Dicket awhile back and although they had not released the intake for sale to the public yet, they did say it would be right around $400. Add that to the cost of the Vortecs, and you have almost as much in that setup as you do a pair of Trick Flows with the stock intake. What I wanna know is...will this intake outflow a ported stock intake? Hope this clears things up a bit.

The vortec intake is based on Edlebrocks bigmouth intake, so it does flow more then the stock intake, and it's an upgrade that should be done for any head upgrade ie, factor in the cost of a bigmouth intake when buying some Trick flow or AFR heads, as you won't get the full benefit of those heads with the stock intake. At $325, that once again tips the bang for buck scale back towards the vortec heads. Well, it will if their Vortec intake is ever released.
