just wondering. What did gm do to tun the power down on the 305 motors that they only had 210 horses

 

86 350 vette motor only makes 230 HP thats net. Look up the factory spec's

Late 60's HP and a lot of mag dyno's are gross HP without Acc.

The rest are Flywheel, sae net. as installed in the car. usally 20% less.

Other people talk about rear wheel HP that is after the tranny and rear end.
less another 20%. manual's are better auto worse.

For example 60's BB Vette 427 435 hp gross 348 hp net 278 hp rear wheel

60's 283 2 barrel 195 hp gr 156 hp net 124 hp rr

2.4 ecotech 4 cyl 210 hp gr 175 hp net 140 hp rr

Let's see..small bore and weak cam comes to mind

Ofcourse the garden hose exhaust dosn't help much either...but with the TPI 305 heads, flow is good enough to support another 50-60HP if needed.
