Timing Question

My car usually runs on 93. If I were to go to the strip and put 110 in her, would I have to adjust the timing, or could I just leave it the way it is?

Re: Timing Question

My TPI runs like a DOG off of 110, I'de avoid it. It's nice if you're spraying and don't want detonation but other than that it really provides no help.

Re: Timing Question

If your running a higher compression engine, I heard that the higher octane will help you and not hurt

Re: Timing Question

110 octane here in WI has lead in it. Your 02 sensor will get coated and contaminated with lead.

Re: Timing Question

Higher compression does require higher oct for detonation.

More timing requires higher oct to prevent detonation.

However, there becomes a point where there is just to much compression or timing and it hurts more then helps.

Lower octane is actually more explosive.. it just doesnt prevent detonation like the others do.

If your not pinging on 93, 110 will do you no good.

Re: Timing Question

The higher the octane the slower the burn.

Think about "fast burn heads"

The faster the burn, the faster the power.
