Speedometer question

Ok I have a 92 maro... Obviously I have the electronic speedometer. I picked up an 89' TPI setup, MAF of course... I was wondering how I am going to get my speedometer to work with the older computer and stuff?

Re: Speedometer question

Depends on what you have now. How is the T56 setup? You have TBI right now?

Re: Speedometer question

well then for right now, you have it easy.
Just run the wires that go from the buffer box into the TBI ecm, into the new MAF TPI ecm. done.
The speedometer works off the buffer box, so you don't have to mess with it at all.

Im no expert but I started a post for my swap, my car is a 91 camaro TBI auto and a member here told me that I have the 4000ppm signal and the 89 ecm uses the 2000ppm. My swap is the 91 TBI to 89 TPI.

Is the 92 different for the vss buffer box?

Re: Speedometer question

All TBI's run the signal from the 4000 pulse VSS into a buffer box and then 2000 pulses to the speedo and 2000 pulses to the ECM.

Or you could convert to 90-92 speed density and run the VSS straight to the computer. Much better in my opinion.
