is porting worth it?

I am wanting to know if anyone saw any noticeable gains when they ported and polished their stock intake manifold?

Also, I am wanting to know if there is goign to be any issues swapping over to a '89 TPI setup?

There is a valid reason I am doing this and I will start a new thread that explains that.

So far I have spent quite a few hours porting the base of the manifold and polishing the upper plenum. I am only hoping that there is going to be a decent payoff!!

Any and all help is graetly appreciated.

This is on a 1987 Trans Am GTA that was a LB9 car from the factory and has been changed to a L98........ That is part of the reason for the manifold change(more info to come).
