hi i just recently picked up a 89 gta with the 350tpi and i changed my starter and noticed that i have a sensor on the passenger side block just under the headers, it has 2 prongs on it but i cant find no plug for it just a black wire that looks like it was ripped out of something,so any info would be great,if pics are needed to help identify this ill will take some

 

Knock sensor is in the water jacket drain hole (remove and get wet) but it takes one wire and has a single round type plug. The only two prong sensor I can think of is the oil pressure switch that helps, run the fuel pump. But it lives above the oil filter. The engine will run with out both. First I would check, the check engine lamp (removed or burnt out), then I would pull any codes.
